OUR EXPERIENCE

The two professionals behind Excel Leadership bring a unique and invaluable perspective on the inner workings of a school district. Dr. JoAnn Sternke and Brian Kammers met in May 2001, working together for Pewaukee School District in vital roles. JoAnn served as Superintendent for 16 years while Brian served on the Pewaukee Board of Education for 27 years, holding positions of Clerk, Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Together, they oversaw the transformation of Pewaukee to one of the top school districts in the state of Wisconsin, recognized at the national level. With this unique experience in both roles, JoAnn and Brian are eager to share their wisdom in the importance of a strong working relationship between board and administration.

We specialize in helping districts develop strategic plans and accountability systems, improve board governance, and work with administration and school boards to improve working relationships. Through the gathering of stakeholder input we help to clarify the strategic vision for the district and follow up helping in the development of accountability frameworks. We work with boards to form consensus around how board members will work and communicate with each other as well working with the administration.
